Frequently asked questions
How many coats of paint do I need?
Two finish coats are a common planning assumption for color consistency, while dramatic color changes, repairs or porous surfaces may also need primer. Product instructions and an onsite test should control the final plan.
How much area does a gallon cover?
Many coatings publish a coverage range, but texture, porosity, application method and waste reduce real coverage. Doors, trim and ceilings should be measured and specified separately.
What preparation is normally included?
Quotes vary. Ask whether washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, patching, masking, primer and furniture protection are included instead of assuming “prep” covers everything.
